IREAD-3 pass rate, prior year → this yearPrior-year (2024–25) vs current-year (2025–26) 3rd-grade cohorts, district-wide. The dot track spans 50–100%; the dashed line marks the 93.6% district rate. ▼ red = declined, ▲ green = improved — the lowest current rates and largest declines are where to target support.
Reading the withheld cells. IDOE withholds any group with fewer than 10 students, and in 2026 only, any group with fewer than 10 who passed — a second rule the file's own footnote does not mention. Because it hides low-performing groups first, a group published for 2025 but withheld for 2026 must not be read as improved. Withheld cells keep their group size and show no rate, and year-over-year change appears only where both years are published.

IREAD-3 is Indiana's 3rd-grade reading proficiency gate. Grade 3 (2026) shows IDOE's final Spring/Summer 2026 results — the combined best result of the first-time 3rd-grade cohort (including students who passed early as 2nd graders) — against the statewide rate of 88.7%. The Grade 2 (2026) early cohort shows this year's 2nd graders testing ahead (spring attempt + summer recovery), which becomes next year's early-passer group.
